Sandy Lam ’09 Live in KL

November 29, 2009 | 1:54 pm Share

It lasted 3 hours and half, with more than an hour worth of encores.

What else can you ask for from Asia’s top Diva, Sandy Lam?

The concert was a blast. She’s a blast.

Taking a break from my share of underwear frenzy, I can’t resist but to get this out of my head. Sandy Lam’s concert in KL was definitely, wonderful.

There’s something about concerts that you can never get from a record or from a video off the net. You have to be there to feel and experience the energy of the crowd and the performer, the magnificence of the stage, the power of the lighting and sound, the overwhelming feel of joy and pain as the performer brings you up and down. The crowd laughed and cried together. And that’s the case with Sandy Lam’s concert.

For someone that is reaching middle age Sandy sure had the stamina and energy to make this concert a total blast. She charmed us all with her 80s, 90s and the ones from the last decade hits, ranging from the funky disco beats to her signature heart-breaking ballads. The hits have a melodious sense that you can hardly find in today’s pop music with lyrics that can really make you cry. No wonder they’re evergreen.

She was pitch perfect with her unique style of singing. Most importantly, as a predominantly singer she made the effort to dance to her fast tunes, and did very well at that. Still, her voice overshadows her moves during the slower sets of the night.

While truth to be told, the budget seems to be not spent much on flashy outfits or stage play. The lighting and the background effects were not bad, but well the stage itself was kind of mediocre. Nevertheless, Sandy still charmed all of her audiences with the sheer beauty of her voice, leaving everyone content with 3 and a 1/2 hour of hits you’ll never forget.

For those who are interested, you can find the list of songs that she had performed for us for the night here.

Seriously, the ticket was well worth its price. Sandy’s charm is unbeatable.

For those who had followed me on Twitter, you should noticed that I’ve commented about the place filled with plenty of gays. It’s quite a phenomenon indeed, after going through a few of Sandy’s hits you will understand why, Sandy’s tunes and voice are a gay magnet. Her fast tunes has the beat that keeps the party going and her slow tunes makes people cry. We gays are pretty emotional, and there’s nothing wrong with that! ;)

I’ve took some pictures as well as some videos to share with you guys. Well, hope I won’t be bailed into jail for this!

Sorry for the poor video quality, this is the best you can squeeze out of a handphone! ^^”

Oh, this first video is important to me. Cause she keeps singing my name! Fui Sek (Grey)~ Ha-ha-ha, ha-ha-ha~

If this is not enough, check out LWkoon‘s channel as well, he did upload a number of videos to share.

Long live Sandy!
